Recent Market News: 

  • Global carbon dioxide emissions associated with energy use are on track to increase by 1% this year thanks to wind and solar developments. The IEA estimated that the growth in renewables has avoided 600 million tons of additional carbon dioxide emissions. – Benjamin Storrow on E&E News 
  • Aeromine Technologies have created a bladeless wind energy product that costs less, uses less space, and produces more energy than a comparable solar power array. BASF is currently testing the turbine in Michigan. – CleanTechnica
  • Bill Gates’ climate-investment firm Breakthrough Energy Ventures will now begin investing in companies actively creating climate adaptation solutions. The firm has already made over 100 investments in startups that have focused on climate mitigation. – CNBC 

Transactions:

  • 10/21/22: Ørsted closed a transaction with New Jersey-based Energy Capital Partners to divest a 50% ownership stake in a portfolio consisting of three onshore wind farms and one solar farm. The transaction is valued at $410 million and will help Ørsted achieve its goal of installing 50 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity globally.  – Hart Energy  
  • 10/24/22: Former colleagues at Recurrent Energy received $200 million in equity funding from Energy Spectrum Capital to launch a new low-carbon energy development company called Nightpeak Energy. Nightpeak plans to develop, own and operate utility-scale flexible generation sources around the US. – Andy Colthorpe on Energy Storage News
